Over the years Leezartwork has taken many forms. Even though the emphasis has been placed on producing art products that are framed and that are presented in museums, galleries and art shows, these examples represent a more illustrative style. These illustrations are done for local and national clients in publications and most of them use the scratchboard technique.
This location is the recently constructed Veterans Memorial. It has a circular sidewalk constructed of bricks which have the names of local veterans engraved on them that have served in our armed forces. The wall behind the flags have all the names of local veterans who died in our Nation's wars from the American Revolution to our present conflicts.
A collage of structures that make up what is known as "The Crossing At The Dan" These features include The Community Market, Danville Science Center, The Pepsi Building, The Pavillion, and in the center is the Train Station already depicted in the 1995 annual report. The reason it is called The Crossing At The Dan is because it has a pedestrian/bicycle bridge across the river that was converted from an old railroad trestle built in the 19th century.
The gateway entrance to the Main St area which depicts a mural painted on the side of the closest building. The mural represents a tragic train wreck that occurred less than a mile from this location at the turn of the last century in 1903. The "Wreck Of The Old 97" sung by Lester Flat and Earl Scruggs in the 1960's became a very popular ballad.
The year 2001 features a Virginia Bank and Trust sign with "In God We Trust" spelled out on the marquee. Being the inscription that is engraved on all of our currency we are reminded of our dependence on God for deliverance and comfort in times of trouble.
